Hello everybody,
Last weekend the village of Petrer, in Alicante (Spain), celebrated the Moors and Christians festivity in honour of our local patron saint San Bonifaci. There are a lot of towns, villages and even neighbourhoods which also celebrate this kind of festivity.
The village of Muro d'Alcoi, in the province of Alicante (Spain), held this festival in honour of the Virgin of Helpless last weekend. The participants parade to the rhythm of music wearing special dresses which recreate part of its history. Watch these videos and appreciate the different instruments played and the colourful costumes.
The party is made up of the Moors and Christians side.
These people belong to the Moors and their troupe are called "Els verds". The band which play behind them are Unidad Musical La Paz from Sant Joan d'Alacant, a municipality belonging to the province of Alicante, Spain.
These people belong to the Christians and their troupe are called "Els Contrabandistes":
