Todays 17th June and it's World Day to Combat Desertificacion and Drought.
A drought is a long period of dry weather a lack of rain.
Desertification is the process whereby land in semi-arid regions become desert.

Can you think about the causes of desertification and drought?
What are the effects of desertification and droughts on people and environment?
Do humans contribute to this problem? How?
Think about the economic impacts.
These are some of the environment impacts:
Loss in species diversity.
Reduced air quality.
Increased soil erosion.
Migrations changes of roaming animals.

We have noticed the streets near the school and the playground are really dirty.
Look at these pictures ant think about things we can do to reduce this dirt.

Remember:
Cleanliness must be a habit for your healthy life.
It is the responsibility of every person.
It must be initiated at home and school.
It is also a virtue.
It is as necessary as food and water.

This street has got scraps of fruit (plums) and containers which were delivered in the school last Wednesday.

The vegetable garden has got a lot of rubbish.

This video explains the climate change to us and it also talks about the big meeting of nations which was celebrated at the end of 2015.




He said:
"In order to fulfil my solemn duty to protect America and its citizens, the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord... but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or a really entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States"
We think it's a sad day for our planet.
Donald Trump has pulled US out of Paris Accord unfortunately.

We have been working on this etwinning project called "eco project" for two months.
We are going to introduce you the concept of The 3R's: Reduce, reuse and recycle.
Our names are Lucía and Lourdes and we want to give you some ideas to "reutilizar" waste material.
