Roland Garros: 2014. Post I. Colegio Santo Domingo Savio.

The French Open Roland Garros 2014 started last Sunday.
The Spanish player Rafael Nadal is "the king of clay". He has won eight times this tournament and he has only lost 1 set. He is the most successful tennis player in French open History.
Nadal and Novak Djokovic are clear leaders among men's contenders.

Yesterday Djokovic played up to his "Djoker" moniker again when he invited a ball boy to seek shelter under an umbrella during a rain delay.
He was chatty and polite and he shared a drink with the lucky volunteer.

Brazil 2014 Football World Cup. Post I by Mario.

2014 Football world cup will be the twentieth  in history. The first was in Uruguay in 1930. It is the second time that a world cup will be played in Brazil. The first was in 1950. The  tournament will start on June 12th and finish on July 13th. Apart from Brazil, 31 national teams have qualified from their respective continents. Football world cups are organized in eight groups, each consisting of four teams.
The host nation (Brazil in this case) is always qualified for the competition automatically.
Listen to Mario.

Choose your football star from the Football World Cup 2014 and find out information about him and complete it. Send a message to your teacher and we will blog it. Good luck!

Then R. Madrid beat Atletico with three goals in the last period of extra time. Gareth Bale scored the second goal with a header in the 110th minute. He said "he was living a dream" after helping R. Madrid win the European Cup for a 10th time. Marcelo and Cristiano finished the job.

Look up. A spoken word film for an online generation.

Hi everyone,

A lot of people use Whatsapp Google, Twitter,  Facebook… "Look up" is a spoken word film for an online generation which asks us to reflect on our obsessions with relying on our smartphones, gadgets and to take the time to interact with one another. It's a good lesson.

Do you leave your phone aside when having dinner?
Do you look up? Are we limited to a world trapped within four corners?

Livingstone, I suppose. Colegio Santo Domingo Savio.

"Livingstone, I suppose".
Hello everybody. Yesterday was Thursday, 8th May and we went to Cervante theatre in Petrer.
We saw the play "Livingstone, I suppose" by the company “Forum Teatro Educación”

We left school at ten o'clock and we got 9 d'octubre park at quarter past ten to have  breakfast before the performance and have a rest.

The play started at quarter past eleven and finished at half past twelve. It was very funny. Dr. Livingstone is the main character. He was an explorer who went to Africa to search for the River Nile birthplace but he got lost.

Did you know that river Nile is the longest river in the world? It’s 6,853 km. long.
Did you know that it the primary water resource of Egypt and northern Sudan.
Did you know that Sahara is the largest desert on Africa continent?

And did you know that Africa is the second largest continent in the world?

We had a really good time. María and other children participated and she sang and danced “The Zulú dance”.
We came back to school at quarter past one.

"IL bibliomotocarro": a bookmobile and library.

An exciting story: Antonio La cava and his "bibliomotocarro".
Antonio La Cava is a retired schoolteacher from Ferrandina, Italy. He has got a vehicle which he created to be a library. The vehicle has got a little chimney on the roof, three wheels and a lot of books. He calls it "bibliomotocarro".
He plays an organ to announce that he has arrived. The children usually run to see his books.
What is his mission? To spread the love of reading. Antonio says that a disinterest in reading often starts in schools because the technique of reading is not accompanied by love.
Look at the picture.
