Quantifiers: Some and Any

Hello everybody,
We are studying quantifiers SOME and ANY. They are a kind of detrminer.
We use some and any with countable (plural) and uncountable nouns. They indicate the quantity of something.
We use some in affirmative sentences.
There is some chocolate.   There is some sugar in the bowl.
There are some apples.      There are some carrots.

We use any with countable (plural) and uncountable nouns in negative and questions.

Is there any flour in the cupboard?      Is there any salt on the plate?

Are there any plates in the kitchen?     Are there any cherries in the basket?

You can use these cards for students to participate.

EXCEPTION:
We use some in questions when offering or requesting something.
Would you like some cake? (Offer)
Can I have some cheese, please? (Request)

Extension: Watch this clip if you want to learn more.

Indefinite and definite articles: A/An/The

Hello everyone,
We are studying the comparative and superlative adjectives. Superlative adjectives use the definite article the, which is the most frequent word in English.

  • We use the definite article with a superlative adjective:
The rat is the most intelligent animal in the Chinese zodiac.
The dog is the most cheerful animal  in the Chinese zodiac.
  • We also use the definite article in front of a noun when we believe the hearer/reader knows exactly what we are referring to.
Open the laptop.   Pass me the ruler.   Give me the pencil-case.

Let's revise the different types of articles: Definite and indefinite.

Get more information: British Council  Comparative and superlative adjectives.

2. Definite/Indefinite

3. A / An/ The

Our famous people/ Role Models

Hello everyone,
Some students have done this presentation about their  famous people.
Each student created a google text document following a chart and shared it with me (the teacher) to revise the work.
Then they had to surf the web to search information about their famous person and complete the chart.
After that they had to fill in the information following the structures.
Finally, they had to insert an image of the famous person. They could only use a page for all the information and pic.
When each student had finished the document, then a coordinator created a presentation and divided the slides for the rest of the members complete the information. Two slides were available for each student, but more than one pic could be inserted this time.
This is a way to integrate the language using TICs.
Our English pen pals are also working the same topic which they will send to us when the finished.

Will they have similar or different role models?

This is the result of the work.
