Acrostics.

Hello everyone,
We want to encourage our students to develop their creative thinking skills to write an acrostic poem.

Here is an example of an acrostic poem.

We are wearing warm wool scarves.

I am writing Christmas cards.

Nobody is playing outside.

Trees are white and days are bright.

End of the year is coming.

Ready for snowboarding.

Do you like it? What is the topic word? Does this acrostic poem rhyme?

REMEMBER:

  • Decide what to write about.
  • Write your word down vertically.
  • Brainstorm words or phrases that describe your idea. You can also use a word bank.
  • The first letter of each line makes a word.
  • Each line can be one word, a phrase or a sentence.
  • Each line can be short or long.
  • They don't need to rhyme.

Why don't you try with your name?

Let's sing this funny song about snowflakes.
