30th January. School Day of Non-Violence and peace.

Good morning everyone,
Did you celebrate School Day on Non-violence and peace?
What do Non-violence and peace mean? Read this list of things and think:

  • Making friends.
  • Solving our conflicts talking.
  • Helping people
  • Being kind.
  • Listening different opinions.
  • Respecting for others
  • Being tolerant.

Can you add other ideas? And other peace symbols? Can you create new ones?

Read this poem called "Tristes guerras si no es amor la empresa" by the Spanish writer M. Hernández:

Listen to Serrat sing that poem and talk about war (Spanish and Catalan).

And now can you think about pacific attitudes?

30th January. School Day of Non-violence and Peace.

Hello,
We have displayed some peacemakers and we have created a QR code to get more information about them. Our students made a project about these pepacemakers you can see on the picute below two years ago.

We have also sung the song  "El mismo sol" by Álvaro Soler.

There is a  pecial version of "El mismo sol" ft. Jennifer López.

Children are sticking their sun to make a big one. You can read Malala's message in the middle:
"Un niño, un maestro, un lápiz y un libro pueden cambiar el mundo".
"A boy, a teacher, a pencil and a book can change the wolrd".

Students, teachers and parents went out to the playgroung yesterday morning at midday to sing the song "Bajo el mismo sol".

"Bajo el mismo sol" by Álvaro Soler ft. Jennifer López Spanish version.

"Under the same sun" Álvaro Soler ft. Jennifer López English version.

30th January. School Day of Non-violence and Peace.

Hello everyone,
Today is School Day of Non-Violence and Peace It was founded in 1964 by the Majorcan poet Llorenç Vidal Vidal to promote education for tolerance, solidarity, respect for human rights, non-violence and peace.

This special day commemorates throughout the world the death of Mahatma Gandhi. He was an Indian pacifist who led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedoms across the world.

Information taken from Teacher's Magazine.

This year our character is Malala Yousafzai who is a Pakistani activist for female education.
She lives in Birmingham, UK although she was born in Pakista.

Here you can read one of her messages which we have displayed in our school.

English: second term.

Hi everyone,
Last weekend some friends from London visited Alicante and they came to my village, Sant Joan d'Alacant where I was born and I live. We had a really good time and laughed a lot. London is a cosmopolitan city, then my friends come from different places: Asia, Africa, Europe and South America.
I suggested that they could draw a free picture for this second term. Almudena drew this beautiful picture. Do you know what it is?

Listen to this song about London. You will love it.

Happy New Year 2016

Hello everyone,
I want to wish you the best wishes for this new year.
Click here to read 24 inspirational quotes for 2016.

Which is your favourite one?
Mine is: "You will never win if you never begin".RH Schuller, Motivational speaker.

I want to share this song by John Lennon called "So this is Christmas" (War is over). We must think about the consequences of war and violence and the impact on children.

Do you know anybody who has been exposed to war?
Do you know what unaccompanied children are?
Do you know that a lot of children lose the opportunity of schooling?
Do you know that a lot of children lose their community and culture?

What have we done? What can we do this new year?
