Winter solstice and Stonehenge

Hi everyone,
Winter solstice marks the longest night and the shortest day of the year.
Every year scores of people go to the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge in Wiltshire in England. They arrive at night to witness the sunrise. Stonehenge  is a Neolithic and Bronze Age megalithic monument. Archeologist think that the standing stones were erected between 2500 BC and 2000 BC.

Do you know why people gather at Stonehenge?
When was it built?
Which solstice was more important for people who constructed Stonehenge?

Did you know that UNESCO added Stonehenge to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1986.
