José Naranjo in our school.
José is a Spanish journalist who lives in Mali, Africa and he has visited our school today.
He loves Africa and he usually travels around a lot of countries in this continent: Senegal, Mauritania, Mali,... He tells us how life is in Africa, how people live and how they help each other to survive.

Derek Redmond's incredible Olympic Story
Life and career.
Derek Redmon was born on the 3rd of September, 1965. He is a retired British athlete. During his career, he held the British record for the 400 metres sprint, and won gold medals in the 4x400 metres relay at the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
Olympic games Barcelona 1992.
He was injured in Barcelona in the 400 metres semi-final but he continued the race limping. His dad helped him and he completed a full lap. He didn't get any medal. He didn't break any record.
However, the crowd gave him a standing ovation because he was really brave.

Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night 5th November
November 5th is bonfire night in the U. Bonfire night is also called Guy Fawkes Night.People in the UK celebrate Bonfire Night because of the Gunpowder plot.
On November 5th, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his friends tried to blow up the Houses of the Parliament. Their plan was known as The Gunpowder Plot. They wanted to kill the King James I but they were discovered. They failed and Guy Fawkes and his friends were arrested. They were sentenced to death.
Every year, many people in the UK build bonfires for Bonfire Night. They make life-sized Guy Fawkes dolls, dress them in old clothes, and throw them onto bonfires. There are large fireworks in towns and cities.

Halloween is celebrated on October 31 in different ways.
The most popular is with bonfires, costumes of witches, trick or treat, party games.
People usually carry Jack or Lantern to frighten evil spirits.
Most of the children have candy in the USA and they participate in parades.
Halloween origin comes from Gaelic and Welsh culture, Roman celebrations and Christian History.
Why do children trick or treat?
Ask your parents or teachers to find it out.
